Mr. David George Carpenter, Sr., 83, of Fordsbush Road, Fort Plain, New York died Friday, August 19, 2022 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Born on October 14, 1938 in the Town of Palatine, NY, he was the son of William Carpenter and Bessie Smith Carpenter. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1958 and spent most of his life in the local area.
Dave worked at various Textile mills, moving to follow the job for several years. One of the jobs brought him back to New York and together he and his wife decided New York had and always would be home. He started working at Malopa which became a part of Beech-Nut. He worked there until his retirement.
Mr. Carpenter is a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany.
He was a member of the Cherry Valley Assembly of God and was very active in his Church his entire life.
On June 19, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia David was married to Nancy A. Sponable.
His parents; brother, Ralph Carpenter; sister, Margaret Gerhartz all predeceased him.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Carpenter; daughters, Carol and her husband, Gene Baldwin, Sheila and her husband, Randy Burgholzer, Wendy and her husband, David Richardson; son, Rev. David Carpenter, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca; brother, Charles Carpenter; grandchildren, Jade Schultz and partner, Amber Mitchell, Adam Schultz and wife, Julie, Rachel and husband, Dan Ouellette, Anna Burgholzer, Cassy Brackett, Kristy and husband, Kristofer Downes, Steven Richardson, William and wife, Alisha Carpenter, Elizabeth Carpenter; great-grandchildren, PeggyAnn Schultz, Reilly Mitchell, Aiden Klink, Tanner Ouellette, Gami, Ahna, Coco, and Nini Brackett, Brantley and Laylah Downes, Caleb, Jace, Rylen, Addison Carpenter; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 24th, 2022 at 10:00AM at The Cherry Valley Assembly of God, 37 Alden Street, Cherry Valley, NY 13320. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 23rd from 3:00-7:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
