Mr. Alquin C. Wick, 74, of St. Hwy. 80, Fort Plain, New York, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at his home following a long illness. Born on June 1, 1935 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of Charles Wick and Mildred Darrach Wick. He attended Fort Plain Central School and was a lifelong area resident. Most recently Mr. Wick worked for Palatine Nursing Home in the maintenance department. He also worked for Palatine Dye for 22 years, where he was the lead dyer. Mr. Wick drove the cattle truck for Mohawk Valley Commission Sales for many years. Mr. Wick served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 4 years with a rank of Corporal. He was of Lutheran faith. Mr. Wick enjoyed fixing cars and was a well known handyman. On January 3, 1953 in Fort Plain, NY, he was married to Beverly Snyder. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage. Mr. Wick was predeceased by his son, Hugh Wick. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Wick of Fort Plain, NY; daughter, Deborah and Daniel Rider of Fort Plain, NY; son, Duane Wick of Fort Plain, NY; sister, Faye Strobel of Nelliston, NY; grandsons, Jayson Wick, Steven Wick, Kristopher Wick; two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
