Obituary of Jason Hogan

Jason Neal Hogan of Homer, NY (formerly of Fort Plain, NY) passed away at the age of 42 on March 12, 2022 after a courageous year-long battle with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Jason passed at home with his wife, mother, and siblings by his side. Jason was born on February 1, 1980 in Little Falls, NY to Richard and Cecelia (Miller) Hogan of Fort Plain. He grew up in the beautiful Mohawk Valley where he developed a love for the outdoors. Jason graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1998 and went on to study at the University of Albany where he majored in both computer science and applied mathematics. He graduated with honors from SUNY Albany in May of 2002. Jason spent his career as a software engineer, most recently employed by ATCorp in Ithaca, NY. Many thanks are given to his ingenuity with software development. On August 27, 2011 Jason married Dana Drew Varin of Palatine Bridge, NY. Together they established their home in Homer, NY where they cultivated 20 acres of land to include over 3 miles of immaculate walking trails. On September 29, 2020 Dana and Jason welcomed their son, Van Howard Hogan, into the world. Jason was the most dedicated and tenderhearted father and husband. Jason is survived by his wife, son, parents, siblings, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Jason's siblings include Rich Hogan of Fort Plain, Lisa (Ron) Hill of Palatine Bridge and Tara Hogan (Jim Fiaschetti) of Canajoharie. Jason attended St. John's Lutheran Church while growing up and later joined the Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer in Cortland, NY where he and his family worshiped. A memorial service will take place at noon on March 26, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church on Route 163 in Fort Plain. The service will be conducted by Rev. Daniel Wells from The Church of the Redeemer. Jason's words and actions embodied a spirit of true compassion and love for others.
