Mr. Peter F. Maaser, Sr., 90, of Paris Road, Fort Plain, New York, died, Thursday morning, June 24, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital following a long illness. Born on July 1, 1919 in Stone Arabia, NY, he was the son of Frank Maaser and Margarita Mahr Maaser. Mr. Maaser had been a local area resident since 1994, previously residing in Lake Worth, FL. For 21 years Mr. Maaser served in the U.S. Army, retiring as Master Sergeant. From 1937 until 1958 he served his country in Panama, during World War II and Korea. He enjoyed golf, tennis and woodworking. On October 9, 1943 in St. Matthew's Church, East Stroudsburg, PA, he was married to Dorothy M. Frantz. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2009. He is also predeceased by 7 siblings and a grandson, Jason Maaser. Mr. Maaser is survived by his 4 sons, Peter F. Maaser, Jr. (Marie) of Ashland, MA, Arthur B. Maaser (Joann) of Nashua, NH, Joe Maaser (Linda) of Schnecksville, PA, Walter S. Maaser (Alice) of Fort Plain, NY; 2 daughters, Lorraine M. Corcoran (William) of Loxahatchee, FL, Patricia Hruby (Mike Arnold) of West Palm Beach, FL; brother, Frank Maaser of Taree, Australia; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
