Mrs. Zelda L. Leneker, 88, of Ridge Road, Canajoharie, New York, died, Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Little Falls Hospital following a long illness.
Born on July 16, 1921 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; she was the daughter of Loren Howard Hargrave and Ethel Irene Richardson Hargrave. She had been a local area resident since 1945, previously residing in Ogdensburg.
Mrs. Leneker was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy, class of 1939.
She was a member of St. John & St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie.
On August 14, 1976 at St. John & St. Mark's Lutheran Church, she was married to F. William Leneker.
Mrs. Leneker was employed at Beech-Nut for 23 years as a clerk in the accounting department, retiring September 1, 1980.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Smith-Schultz Post #222, and the former Women's Business Association. Mrs. Leneker liked plants, crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed vacations with her family at Lake Champlain, also including two cross country trips with her husband.
Mrs. Leneker is predeceased by her brothers, Lowell and Darrell Hargrave; and sister, Arlene Livingston.
Mrs. Leneker is survived by her husband, F. William Leneker of Canajoharie, NY; daughter, Judith Anne Cross of Lewis, NY; step-daughter, Rosemarie F. and husband Robert D'Arcangelis of Fort Plain, NY; 3 grandchildren, Stephen Moon of VT, Heather Beaton of Lewis, NY, Danielle Moon Becker of NH; 3 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Moon of VT, Hayley Moon of VT, Robert Beaton of Lewis, NY; 2 step-grandchildren, Yio D'Arcangelis of Clifton Park, NY, Stephanie D'Arcangelis-DeMyer of Schenectady, NY; 2 step-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
