Obituary of Christine Mary Evenson
Please share a memory of Christine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Christine Mary (Jones) Evenson joyously joined her Heavenly Father on August 11, 2010. Born in Cooperstown, New York on April 12, 1951 to the late Linden and Bernice Jones, Christine grew up in Ames, New York with her five siblings. She graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1969 and attended SUNY Plattsburgh; she then received her Bachelor's of Education from the College of Saint Rose.
She dedicated her life to her family, her church, and her community. She was a lifelong member of the Ames-Sprout Brook United Methodist Church, serving multiple roles within the organization. She served on the board of trustees at Fort Klock Historic Restoration, volunteered at Manna House Meals in Fort Plain, and gave countless hours in many capacities to other community organizations. She constantly endeavored to improve the lives of those around her, most especially youths. Most recently she served as Site Coordinator for the 21st Century Community Learning Center after school programs at Fort Plain and Johnstown, and was responding to God's call by pursuing pastoral studies.
She leaves behind two daughters, Katie Evenson-Böttger (and her husband Daran) and Sara Evenson (and her fiance Michael DeSalvatore); her sisters Bonnie Looman (and husband Paul), Valerie Scribner (and husband Butch); her brothers Barry Jones (and wife Susan), Vincent Jones (and wife Marylouise), and Jack Jones (and wife Nan); and a large extended family. She also leaves behind her two "favorite children" - pugs Molly and Seamus.
Her famous chocolate cake and legendary chicken noodle soup will be greatly missed. She is loved by all who knew her.
