Mr. William H. Grainer, 84, of Hessville Road, Fort Plain, New York passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Born on March 1, 1937 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of George M. Mosher and Maude Herringshaw Mosher.
Bill worked for LifeSavers in Canajoharie for 35 years.
He was a member of Freysbush United Methodist Church.
Gardening was his passion. He was known for his four gardens and green houses. He was noted for his Farmalls and had approximately a dozen tractors.
On June 27, 1981 at Freysbush United Methodist Church, Rev. Alan Rhodes married Bill and Joan Liebelt Herron.
He was a former member of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee.
His former wife, Margaret Seal predeceased him. He was also predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Grainer is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Stephen and Melinda Herron of Fort Plain, NY; Danny and Linda Dawson of Canajoharie, NY; daughter, Rose Fralick of Florida; sisters, A. Betty Dillenbeck and Alberta Voght; grandchildren, Rylee and Koby Herron, Jason Dawson, Renee and Darryl Battisti; great-grandchildren, Jakub and Kayden Battisti, Adalynn and Colton Dawson; sister-in-law, Deborah Abraham; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 2:00-5:00PM and Monday, August 16, 2021 from 10:00-11:00AM at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 16th at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
