Obituary of R. Virginia Porter

Miss R. Virginia Porter, 99, formerly of Carlisle Road, Canajoharie, New York, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. Born on March 8, 1911 in Litchfield, Maine, she was the daughter of Howard H. Porter and Genevra Patterson Porter. She graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1928 and attended St. Lawrence University for 2 years. She was a resident of the area most of her life. Miss Porter was employed at Beech Nut/Life Savers for 44 years and retired from the Life Savers Division as a Department Clerk in 1976. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Canajoharie. She was also a member of the Guild at the Church and was on the Vestry for many years. Miss Porter was a Board member and Secretary of the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter in Sprakers, Board member of the Mapletown Cemetery, Charter member of the Mid-County Ambulance Service and a member of the 25 year club at Beech Nut.
