Obituary of Timothy John Schaffer

Mr. Timothy John Schaffer, 53, of St.Johnsville, NY went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 16th, 2021. Timothy was born on September 20, 1967 in Cobleskill, NY, the son of Paul and Carol Jane Schaffer. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High-School, class of 1986.
Following graduation, Mr. Schaffer enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the Persian Gulf War. Tim then continued his career of service as a NYS Corrections Officer. Over the span of 20 plus years he worked at both the Shawangunk and Marcy correctional facilities.
When Tim was not working his free time was spent helping others, whether that meant physical labor or a chat over coffee. He always had a smile and a kind word for anyone he came in contact with.
On February 11th, 1989 He married his best friend and first love, Wendy Sue Montana at Ames Baptist Church. His greatest joys were his wife, children, and granddaughters.
Tim was predeceased by his father Paul. Tim is survived by his wife, Wendy Sue Schaffer; mother, Carol Schaffer; children, Alyssa Renee and her husband Nathan Olson; Ian Thomas Schaffer, Georgia Sue Schaffer; siblings, Donald (Leslie) Schaffer, Autumn (Richard) Mitchell, Rebecca (Ronald) Folmsbee, Aaron (Lori) Schaffer, Tammy (Andrew) Nolette, James (Kristen) Lambert, Beth Ann (Steve) Morell; granddaughters, Eden Grace Olson, Nova Marie Olson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 1:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Pastor Chris Wintermute officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 5:00-8:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Ames Cemetery.
