Obituary of Gregg Caringi
Please share a memory of Gregg to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Gregg J. Caringi, 67, of Oppenheim, New York passed peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born on February 4, 1953 in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of Ronald J. Caringi and Adele Gold Caringi. He was a graduate of Galway Central School, Class of 1972. As a young man, he traveled to many states in the US, touring as a drummer. He loved sharing stories of these adventures, especially his time spent on the Allman Brothers Farm. When he made his way to the Mohawk Valley, he found his forever home.
Most recently, Gregg worked as a glazier for Local Union DC9 in Albany, NY. He was skilled in many occupations and was a true master of all trades. Milking cows was always his favorite though, from the time he was young.
He was a veteran of the US Army.
Gregg loved animals; especially his dogs, Rock 'N Roll, traveling to "Yes" concerts, computers and technology, his online community, being Mr. Fix It, working on home renovations, gardening, feeding his birds, and his vintage Farmall tractor. And he especially loved his family.
On June 28, 1986 at Grace Congregational Church in St. Johnsville, Gregg was married to Carrie M. Decker. Together they celebrated 34 years of marriage.
His father, Ronald J. Caringi predeceased him.
Gregg is survived by his mother, Adele Weller; wife, Carolyn “Carrie” Caringi; daughter, Katrina Caringi; son, Ronald “Ronnie” Caringi; brother, Jeff Caringi; and sisters, Carla Russo and Sherri Russo. He also has a large extended family, to include his soul tribe of people who were very near and dear to him.
We are proud that he made the choice to register as an organ donor in order to help others.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Albany Medical Center for their care and compassion.
In keeping with his wishes, the family will be hosting a private celebration of life in the summer time.
