Obituary of Helen Jean Ciani

Mrs. Helen Jean Ciani, 84, formerly of Fort Plain and most recently from Ilion, New York died, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born on February 1, 1926 in Canajoharie, NY, she was the daughter of David Olmstead and Helen M. Woodcock Olmstead. Mrs. Ciani attended Canajoharie Schools. She had been a lifetime area resident, spending several years with her daughter, Toni , son-in-law, Ed and their beloved dogs before going to the Abraham House in Utica later becoming a resident of St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
Mrs. Ciani worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie in advertising and jar tapping.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain and attended the Annunciation Catholic Church in Ilion, NY.
Mrs. Ciani loved square dancing.
On September 25, 1971 in Fort Plain, she was married to Dario L. Ciani. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2001. She was also predeceased by her sister, Margaret Olmstead Leroy.
Mrs. Ciani is survived by her daughter, Toni J. and her husband, Edward J. Joy of Ilion, NY; sons, Robert "Alan" and his wife Suzanne Bombard of CA, Terrance Bombard of Fort Plain, NY; sisters, Eleanor E. Smith of Canajoharie, NY, Marion Cole of St. Johnsville, NY; grandchildren, Christopher and Morgan Joy, Richard Bell, Breyanna Bombard, Michael Bombard and his girlfriend Margie, Robert John Bombard, Kelly Jean Bombard; step-grandchildren, Timothy (Bombard); great-grandchildren, Kelsey Bombard, Kennedy Minich, Cameron Bombard, Lindsey Jean Bombard and soon to be great-grandson, Drake Lewis Joy; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
