On Tuesday, December 22, 2020, John P. Snyder Jr. (56) of 111 Maple Avenue Canajoharie, NY passed away at his home surrounded by his loving wife Beth and son/best friend Matthew by his side.
John was born on April 28, 1964 in Cooperstown NY to John & Ruth Lee Snyder of Cherry Valley, NY. He attended Cherry Valley High School and worked at Glensfoot Farm from the age of 14. After graduating High School he attended SUNY Cobleskill and then started working for Lee Publications in 1984 delivering papers and then working his way up to the graphic arts department and eventually worked his way to now the sales manager of the Original Valley Pennysaver. John was a hard worker, in fact even though he was very ill he still called his clients from home up to a week before his death.
John was an avid and passionate photographer and had his own business, Boiling Pot Photography that his son will be taking over. John was an active member of the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years many of those years he served the department as treasurer. He also held positions of Captain and Lieutenant through the years. John also enjoyed taking pictures at calls and social events. He was a trustee and deputy mayor for the Village of Canajoharie and most importantly, he was a family man and always put his wife and son first.
On July 23, 1988 John married Elizabeth A. Zola Yacobucci and they spent over 32 years together.
John is survived by his wife Elizabeth A. Snyder and son and best friend Matthew J. Snyder, his parents John P. & Ruth Snyder of Cherry Valley and two wonderful sisters and their families. Donna Bouck (Randy) of Rapidan Virginia. daughters Sarah Hovick, son Blake of Sylvania Ohio and Katy Kraham (Kyle) and son Shane of Cherry Valley, NY. His sister TheriJo Climenhaga, daughter Zoe, son Nathan of Cherry Valley, NY along with his beloved Aunt Donna and Uncle Hugh Francis of Milford, NY
He is predeceased by his grandparents John A. and Margaret Snyder and Frederick and Elizabeth Lee.
A Memorial service to honor John as a Canajoharie Volunteer Firefighter will be held January 2nd, 2021 behind the firehouse. Everyone that would like to honor John can join us for a candle light service at 3:00 pm. Due to Covid-19 we ask that everyone that attends wears a mask.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
