Mr. Robert C. Stockwell, 83 of R. Dillenbeck Road, Fort Plain, New York died, Sunday, December 26, 2010 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
Born on June 6, 1927 at his home in Hallsville, NY, he was the son of Charles Stockwell and Lucille Cronkhite Stockwell. He was a lifetime area resident that went to grade school in Hallsville and graduated from Fort Plain High School.
Mr. Stockwell was the owner and operator of Stockwell Brother's Dairy Farm along with his brother, Fred S. Stockwell, in Fort Plain, NY, until his retirement in 1990.
He was a lifelong member of the Fort Plain United Methodist Church, where he also served on the Church Board.
Bob was a Board Member for GLFL, Agway, Fort Plain Central School and the Fonda Fair. He was an area representative for Dairylea Cooperative, Inc. and was also involved in many local Civic groups. In his younger years he enjoyed music and playing the saxophone. He was a New York Giants fan, and an avid bowler for more than 25 years. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida.
On June 24, 1950 at the Fort Plain United Methodist Church, he was married to Rachel M. Morrison. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Mr. Stockwell is survived by his wife, Rachel M. Stockwell of Fort Plain, NY; sons, Larry Stockwell of Clinton, NY, David and Maura Stockwell of Fort Plain, NY; daughter, Ellen and Kenneth Bonk of Limerick, PA; brother, Fred S. Stockwell of Fort Plain, NY; 3 grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Kelsey Stockwell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by numerous friends that he made through business and travel.
Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.
