Mr. Gerald R. Hudson, 60, of Mohawk Street, Fort Plain, New York, died Friday, February 4, 2011 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY.
Born on March 10, 1950 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Robert K. Hudson and Norma J. Fonda Hudson. He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1968. He attended Cobleskill College then continued his education in the early 1970's at St. Rose College in Albany, NY.
Most recently Mr. Hudson was a Bus Driver for Herkimer County Area Resource. Prior to driving bus he worked as a sales manager for Prudential Insurance Company for 23 years.
Mr. Hudson was the former Mayor of the Village of Fort Plain and was also a Village Trustee for 15 years prior to serving as Mayor.
He was of Methodist faith.
Mr. Hudson was a former member of the Lion's Club, President of White Tails Unlimited and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On August 29, 1970 in Mayfield, NY, he married Linda Carter.
Mr. Hudson is survived by his wife, Linda Hudson of Fort Plain, NY; adopted son, Kyle Smith of Fort Plain, NY; brothers, Terry R. (Wendy) Hudson of Fort Plain, NY, Paul N. Hudson and Tammy Moynihan of Fort Plain, NY; sister, Dawn M. Thompson of Old Town, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, 1 uncle, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many friends.
