Mr. Robert P. Mallett, 83, of Center Street, Palatine Bridge, New York died, early Friday morning, March 4, 2011 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
Born on May 26, 1927 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of Albert Mallett and Harriet Ambridge Mallett. He was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Canajoharie High School.
Following High School, Mr. Mallett enlisted into the US Navy during World War II. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Mallett worked at Beech-Nut, later working with his father at his service station, Mallett Service Station until 1972. He then worked for Lloyd McDuffee's Construction as a carpenter.
He was a member of the Reformed Church of Canajoharie.
Mr. Mallett was a Charter Member of Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service as well as being a board member, dispatcher and crew member. He was Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #83 for many years and a Council Member for Sir William Johnson Council for several years.
On May 24, 1952 in Sharon Springs, NY, he was married to Kathryn L. Mallett. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2011.
He is survived by his 3 sons, Larry R. Mallett and Angela of Palatine Bridge, NY, Mark A. Mallett of Guilderland, NY, Michael J. Mallett and Maria of Palatine Bridge, NY; sister, Marilyn Lasher of Rochester, NY; 7 grandchildren, Michaela Mallett, Emily Mallett, Bryant Escobar, Michael Escobar, Dayton Palmer, Marty Stone, Madeline Stone; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
