Mrs. Carol A. Smith, 49, resident of State Route 80 Fort Plain, New York died Saturday, March 19th at her home with her loving family beside her.
Mrs. Smith was born in Gloversville, NY on November 25, 1961, the daughter of Edward Pierce and Janice Cassovoy Pierce. She was a life-long resident of Fort Plain.
Carol married David L. Smith on July 9, 1988 at the Fort Plain United Methodist Church, Fort Plain, NY.
Carol graduated from Fort Plain Central School, Class of 1981. She graduated from Mildred Elley Business School in May 1992 with an accounting degree. She became a Real Estate Agent in May 2004 and was attending Fulton-Montgomery Community College from 2010 until her death. Carol was employed by Beech-Nut, Canajoharie, NY for 28 years as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Carol is predeceased by her father: Edward Pierce; father-in-law: Dave Smith; mother-in-law: Nancy Brockham; father-in-law: Doug Brockham; and brother-in-law: Chuck Smith. Carol is survived by her mother: Janice Pierce, St. Johnsville, NY; her husband, David L. Smith, Fort Plain, NY; 2 daughters: Tonya Nirschl & Michael, Daytona Beach, Florida; Amanda Smith, Fort Plain, NY. 2 Sisters: Kathy & Bob Bobilin, St. Johnsville, NY and Linda Bunker, Virginia. Brother: Edward Pierce, Schuyler, NY. Brother-in-law & sister-in-law: Bob & Sheila Smith, Canajoharie, NY; Sister-in-law & brother-in-law: Penny & Dave Loring, Fort Plain, NY; Sister-in-law: Nancy Smith & special friend Patricia, Texas; Brother-in-law: Alvin Smith, Florida and sister-in-law: Jane Ann Smith, Texas. 3 Grandchildren: Riley & Hailey Nirschl & Gaby Calhoun and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 24th at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, March 23rd for visitation from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
