Obituary of Robert M. Colvin

Mr. Robert M. Colvin, Jr., 78, of St. Hwy. 162, Sprakers, New York passed away, Monday, June 6, 2011 at his home peacefully, with his family by his side. Born on April 17, 1933 in Albany, NY, he was the son of Robert M. Colvin, Sr. and Margaret Cain Colvin. He attended Canajoharie High School and a lifetime area resident. Mr. Colvin was a machine repairman in the turbine department for General Electric in Schenectady for 30 years until his retirement in 1979. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Eagles Club Boiling Pot Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles #3846. On September 17, 1955 in Albany, NY, he was married to Glenna Gray. Mr. Colvin is predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Colvin. He is survived by his wife, Glenna Colvin of Sprakers, NY; 5 children, Michael Colvin of Stone Arabia, NY, Diane Salisbury of Canajoharie, NY, Pamela Lathers of Broomfield, CO, Thomas Colvin of Fort Plain, NY, Amy Bills of Ballston Spa, NY; 2 brothers, Francis Colvin of Palatine Bridge, NY, Daniel Colvin of Fonda, NY; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. Nancy Ryan officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
