Obituary of Mary Frank Morrell
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Mary Frank Morrell, 88, formerly of West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, died on September 6, 2011 under the loving care of the wonderful team at Arkell Hall in Canajoharie.
Born in Canajoharie, New York in 1922, she was the daughter of Wilbur J. Frank and Frances McFee Frank. Mary was a graduate of Canajoharie High School Class of 1940 and chose to make the Mohawk Valley her lifelong home.
Mary was a receptionist at Beech-Nut and LifeSavers Company in Canajoharie for 21 years, retiring in 1975.
On the 10th of October in 1947, Mary was married to Gerald Gordon Morrell. Mary and Gerald shared a wonderful life together until his passing in April of 2003. And even then, Mary continued to have a daily "chat" with her best friend Gerald. Over the years they much enjoyed dancing, loyally supporting the Canajoharie basketball teams, camping in the Adirondacks and their twice annual jaunts to the coast of Maine.
Mary took great pleasure in tending to her colorful flower gardens and decorating for each holiday season at their little brown house in Palatine Bridge, across from the old stone school house. Her New York Yankee cap became her trademark on her long daily retirement walks about town.
Mary is survived by her daughter and friend, Constance (Connie) Morrell of Aspen, Colorado.
A private family interment will take place at the Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
