Obituary of F.William Leneker

Mr. F. William Leneker, 81, of Ridge Road, Canajoharie, New York, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. Born on September 28, 1930 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of Frank A. Leneker and Agnes Luickhardt Leneker. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1948 and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Leneker was employed with Beech-Nut as an Accountant from 1959-1986, retiring in 1986. Previously Mr. Leneker was employed by the former Arkell & Smith Sack Factory as an Accountant from 1948-1959. He served for the US Army from May 1951 until April 1953, during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. Mr. Leneker was a member of St. John's & St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a Sunday school teacher, Superintendent of the Sunday school and served on the Church Council for 30 years. Mr. Leneker was a member of the American Legion Smith-Schultz Post #222. He was past Post Commander, current Chaplain, Treasurer and Historian. He was the past Montgomery County Commander and the current Chaplain for Montgomery County. He was a member of the Fort Plain VFW Post #3275 and the Canajoharie Fort Plain Elks BPOE #2621. Mr. Leneker was the President of Prospect Hill Cemetery Association. On August 14, 1976 at St. John's & St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie, he was married to Zelda L. Hargrave. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2010. Mr. Leneker is survived by his daughter, Rosemarie F. and Robert D'Arcangelis of Fort Plain, NY; step-daughter, Judy Ann Cross of Lewis, NY; grandchildren, Yio D'Arcangelis of Clifton Park, NY, Stephanie D'Arcangelis-DeMyer of Schenectady, NY; step-grandchildren, Stephen Moon of VT, Heather Beaton of Lewis, NY, Danielle Moon Becker of NH; 2 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. Zach Labagh officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 19 from 12:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Canajoharie, NY with full Military Honors by the Fort Plain VFW Post #3275 Memorial Squad. Contributions in memory of Mr. F.
