Mrs. Fay H. Tooker, 76, of Third Avenue, Canajoharie, New York died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Little Falls Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, May 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Seward J. Dillenback, Sr. and Jennie L. Minch Dillenback. She was a graduate of Fort Plain Central School, class of 1953 and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Tooker was employed from 1974 to 1976 for Life Saver's in Canajoharie and had at one time been an Avon Representative for the area. Fay had been a homemaker most of her life.
She was a member of the Reformed Church of Canajoharie.
Mrs. Tooker was a Sunday School Teacher for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain from 1962-1988 and a member of the W.E.L.C.A. of the Church. She was a member and past President of the Fort Plain Council of Church Women, a member of the Herkimer Christian Women's Club and a member of the Valley Choralaires since 1975. She also taught Vacation Bible School for many years.
Fay was a member of the Otsquago Chapter #297 Order of the Eastern Star formerly of Fort Plain and a Past Matron of the Chapter. She was currently a member of the Amsterdam Chapter #208 Order of the Eastern Star. She was Treasurer of the Dillenback Association and was an Assistant for Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service.
She was predeceased by her brother, Seward J. Dillenback, Jr.
Mrs. Tooker is survived by her husband, John W. Tooker, whom she married May 15, 1976 in Fort Plain; son, David S. VanWormer of Canajoharie, NY; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Miriam Barnes officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery. The Order of the Eastern Star and Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance will conduct services at the funeral home.
