Obituary of Lester J. Paganuzzi

Mr. Lester John Paganuzzi, 89, of St. Hwy. 163, Fort Plain, New York died, Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, NY.
Born on September 23, 1922 in Manhattan, New York City, NY, he was the son of Celesto Paganuzzi and Mary Chinosi Paganuzzi. He was a graduate of Commers High School in Manhattan, class of 1941. Lester had been a local area resident since 1984, previously residing in Sunny Side, Queens, NY.
Mr. Paganuzzi was a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service in Flushing, NY, retiring in 1984.
He was of Catholic faith.
Mr. Paganuzzi served with the United States Army during World War II.
Lester was a lifetime member of the Fort Plain American Legion Post #554 and of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275. He loved to go bowling, fishing, and was an avid Blue Jay and Yankee fan. He enjoyed being with his granddaughters and great-granddaughters.
On April 21, 1946 at the St. John the Evangelist Church in Manhattan, NY, Lester was married to Beatrice Burns. She preceded him in death on July 20, 1984. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Margaret Mary Mitton on February 8, 1998 and brother, Albert Paganuzzi.
Mr. Paganuzzi is survived by his daughter, Barbara Spooner and companion Ronald Terranova of Fort Plain, NY; granddaughters, Clorinda & Paul McGill of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, Kimberly & Ray Kehoe of Janetville, Ontario, Canada, Shannon & Chad Anderson of Courtice, Ontario, Canada; 2 great-granddaughters, Renee Mayers of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, Lauren Anderson of Courtice, Ontario Canada.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 6:00pm at the chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 9 from 4-6pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Queens, NY the following day.
