Obituary of Amelia L. Fahy

Mrs. Amelia L. Fahy, 74, of Reid Street, Fort Plain, New York, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, NY.
Born on May 5, 1937 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Bargey Wilkinson and Victoria Hage Wilkinson. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls, NY, class of 1955 and was a lifetime resident of Fort Plain.
Mrs. Fahy was manager of Plain Food Co-Op in Fort Plain, NY for 16 years. She was the owner and operator of Pattersonville Tree Farm in Pattersonville and previously worked for the Fahy & Sons Tree Farm.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain, NY.
Mrs. Fahy was a State level and National Champion Wreath Maker. She was also a Girl Scouts Troop Leader for many years in Fort Plain and Canajoharie.
On July 29, 1956 in St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain, Amelia was married to Thomas P. Fahy. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1993.
Mrs. Fahy is survived by her mother, Victoria H. Wilkinson of Rochester, NY; 7 children, Victoria Asher of Westmoreland, NY, Thomas P. Fahy, III and Leslie of Nelliston, NY, Gerard T. Fahy of Fort Plain, NY, Shawn T. Fahy of Fort Plain, NY, Amelia Cade of Fort Plain, NY, James T. Fahy and Lucy of Johnsonville, NY, Timothy T. Fahy and Holly of Longmont, CO; 2 sisters, Elaine Waldman of NY, Mary Beth Quandt of Rochester, NY; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Prayer service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 9:15am at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.
