Obituary of Patricia A. Miner

Mrs. Patricia A. Van Evera Miner, 69, of Stone Arabia Road, Fort Plain, New York, died, Friday, January 27, 2012 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home following a long battle with cancer. Born on April 24, 1942 in the Town of Palatine, NY, she was the daughter of John Van Evera and Irene Kretser Van Evera. She was a local area resident her entire life. Most recently Mrs. Miner worked for La Salle Labs in Canajoharie and Little Falls, prior to that she worked at the Johnstown Knitting Company in Fort Plain, until the closing of the plant. Mrs. Miner worked for both La Salle Labs and Johnstown Knitting Company following her retirement from Beech-Nut and LifeSavers as a machine operator. She was of Protestant faith. Mrs. Miner was a member of the Fulton County Senior Citizens. She loved embroidery, crafts, gardening and dancing. She looked forward to motorcycle rides and taking drives in her pink Chevrolet convertible. On February 17, 1973 in Ephratah, NY, Patricia was married to Harry L. Miner, Sr. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2000. She was also predeceased by a half-sister, Edith Wheaton Sweet. Mrs. Miner is survived by 2 half-brothers, Franklin Van Evera of Amsterdam, NY, Glen Van Evera of FL; 2 step-daughters, Nola Leamon and Howard Gushue of Fultonville, NY, Lenore Miner of FL; 3 step-sons, Harry L. Miner, Jr. of Johnstown, NY, Charles Miner and Gary Miner both of FL; companion, Keith Watson of Palatine Bridge, NY; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 6:00pm at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 31 from 4-6pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ephratah Rural Cemetery at a later date.
