Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Traudt, 81, of Floral Avenue, Canajoharie, New York died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at her home following a brief illness.
Born on September 22, 1930 in the town of Root, NY, she was the daughter of Ralph L. Becker and Gola Hoffman Becker. She was a graduate of Jordan High School, class of 1949 and was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Traudt was a mother and homemaker.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Mrs. Traudt was a Cub Scout leader and an assistant with the swim program at Canajoharie School. She loved doing puzzles and watching soap operas.
In July 1962, Betty was married to Frederick "Fritz" Traudt at the former St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Traudt was predeceased by her first husband, Cecil "Zeke" DeForest in 1960; brothers, Robert Becker, Raymond Becker; sisters, Janet Spagnuola, Helen Mehaffey; as well as niece, Carol Haeflinger.
Betty is survived by her husband, Fritz Traudt of Canajoharie, NY; 3 daughters, Catherine DeForest of Town of Root, NY, Cindy Macpherson of Colombus, MI, Patricia Greco of Rexford, NY ; 2 sons, Michael Traudt of Brookfield, CT, Mark Traudt of Morristown, NJ; 10 grandchildren, Amanda DeForest, Sasha DeForest, Heather Macpherson, Celena Macpherson, James Macpherson, Eric Traudt, Allison Traudt, Kirsten Traudt, Megan Traudt, Gabriella Greco; 5 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY, with Father Dennis Murphy officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place at St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery in Canajoharie at a later date.
