Mrs. Helen Koval, 90, of Dahlen Street, Nelliston, New York died, Monday, March 19, 2012 at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville, following a short illness.
Mrs. Koval was born on April 20, 1921 in Schuylkill, PA. She had been a resident of the local area since 1945, previously residing in Poland and New York City.
For many years Mrs. Koval and her husband, Andrew were the owners and operators of Lavok Dairy Farm; she later when on to work for Beech-Nut and LifeSavers until her retirement.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Mrs. Koval enjoyed collecting antiques and refinishing old trucks. She loved the color blue.
On April 14, 1945 in Little Falls, NY, Helen was married to Andrew Koval. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2001. She was also predeceased by her daughters, Christine Oare and DeAnna Evans.
Mrs. Koval is survived by her son, Martin and Christina Koval of Buckley, WA; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Koval of Racine, WI, Marc Evans of Walton, NY, Darrien Evans of Delhi, NY, Sarah Howell of Canajoharie, NY; 2 great-grandchildren, Mayla and Nolan Evans both of Walton, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Father Dennis Murphy officiating. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Koval may be made to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 119 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
