Obituary of John W. Tooker

Mr. John "Jack" W. Tooker, 75, of Third Avenue, Canajoharie, New York died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
Born on October 10, 1936 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of John L. Tooker and Florence Wiles Tooker. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1955 and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Tooker was employed at LifeSavers in Canajoharie for 32 years. He then worked for Richardson Brands in Canajoharie in 1989.
He served in the US Air Force from 1957-60.
John was a member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. He served on the Church Consistory and was a Deacon and Elder.
He was a member of the Fort Plain Masonic Lodge #433, where he earned his dedicated service apron award in 2004, member of the Otsquago Chapter #297 Order of the Eastern Star in Fort Plain and served as past Patron. John was the President of the Dillenback Association and former member of the Boy Scouts of America.
On May 15, 1976 in Fort Plain, NY, John married Fay H. Dillenback. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2011.
Mr. Tooker is survived by his step-son, David S. Van Wormer of Canajoharie, NY; sister, Joan Ellis of Clifton Park, NY; nieces and nephews and a cousin, Jean Sayer of Oregon.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 3:00pm at the Canajoharie Reformed Church with Rev. Miriam Barnes officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 29 from 1-3pm at the Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 10:00am.
