Obituary of Olin E. Smith

Mr. Olin E. Smith, Jr., 59, of Willett Street, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, following a brief illness. Born on November 22, 1956 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Olin E. Smith, Sr. and Lydia Fralick Smith. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1974 and was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Smith was self-employed in the Construction business for many years. Olin was a member of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275, the Fort Plain VFW Memorial Squad, Fort Plain American Legion Post #554, AMVETS of Fort Plain, and the Loyal Order of the Moose #853 in Canajoharie. His father preceded him in death. Mr. Smith is survived by his mother, Lydia C. Smith of Fort Plain, NY; brothers, Scott Smith of Fort Plain, Gary Smith of Canajoharie; sister, Julie Smith of Palatine Bridge; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Alan Griffith officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 12th, 2016 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mr. Olin E.
