Obituary of Miss Gladys M. Waner

Miss Gladys M. Waner, 99, of Division Street, Fort Plain, New York died, Thursday morning, August 23, 2012 at Palatine Nursing Home. Born on January 8, 1913 in Ilion, NY, she was the daughter of Alfred Waner and Mabel Neach Waner. She attended Fort Plain High School and Gloversville Business School. She had been a resident of Fort Plain since 1965, previously residing in Ilion, Fonda and Schenectady. Miss Waner worked at Hawkins Auto Sales in Nelliston, NY as a bookkeeper for 20 years, retiring in June 1985. She had also been employed at Montgomery County Farm Bureau and Chevrolet Garage in Fonda. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain. Miss Waner was Past Matron and 65 year member of the Former Mohawk Valley Chapter #489 Order of Eastern Star in Fultonville, currently the St. Monica-Juanita-Mohawk Valley-Cayadutta Chapter #486 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member and Past President of Dorcas, W.E.L.C.A at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Pro-To Club in Fonda and was their first Secretary. Gladys was predeceased by a nephew, Donald Waner on July 29, 2003. She is survived by her nephew, Richard Waner and his wife Janet of Canajoharie, NY. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Fort Plain Cemetery.
