Mrs. Norma K. Cook, 100, formerly of State Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her grandson's home, where she had been living for the last 6 years.
Born on January 14, 1917 in Frankfort, NY, she was the daughter of August J. Kellner and Lillian A. Miner Kellner. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1934.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain and was past President of the Dorcas Society. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was Assistant to the Pastor with Luther League.
For many years she played in a Country dance band. She was accompanist for the Chris Eleonore Dance Studio and taught piano and organ for many years. Mrs. Cook was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader. In her later years she was an avid reader, cross word fan, and played the piano. She enjoyed her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Foster G. Cook; daughter, Joann M. Cook; grandson, David J. Cook.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her son, David F. Cook and Shirley of Gloversville, NY; grandsons, Stephen D. Cook and Deborah, Randy Dillenbeck, Michael Dillenbeck, Thomas Smith, Jeffrey Smith and Kelly; granddaughters, Kathy A. Cook, Connie A. Hoose and Kirk, Laurie M. Dillenbeck, Nicki Smith; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; some very special nieces, and nephews, and many wonderful friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 3:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 2:00-3:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Freysbush cemetery.
