Obituary of Elizabeth E. Hulsaver

Mrs. Elizabeth E. Hulsaver, 101, formerly of Carmen Court, Palatine Bridge, New York died Tuesday morning, February 19, 2013 at St. Johnsville Rehab & Nursing Center. Born on October 11, 1911 in Rhinecliff, NY, she was the daughter of Sanford Curtis and Elizabeth Jane Robinson Curtis. She attended Rhinecliff County School and has been a local area resident since her retirement in 1977. Mrs. Hulsaver retired from Hudson River State Hospital in 1977, where she worked for many years as a LPN. She was of Protestant faith. Mrs. Hulsaver loved to crochet, do word search puzzles, garden and watch birds from the back porch. On October 9, 1981 at the former St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Church in Canajoharie Elizabeth was married to Peter J. Hulsaver. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2001. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Oran Van Etten in 1974; 3 sons, David Van Etten, Richard Van Etten, Roger Van Etten; daughter, Helen Van Etten Brandt. Mrs. Hulsaver is survived by her daughter, Marie E. LaRue of Palatine Bridge, NY; son, Ronald J. Van Etten of Rhinecliff, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 2:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery in the spring.
