Obituary of Jean Nash Sanders

Mrs. Jean Nash Sanders, 81, of School Street, Nelliston, New York died early Sunday morning, June 16, 2013 at her home. Born on February 10, 1932, she was the daughter of Edmund Lockyer and Leona Nash Lockyer. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1949. She was a lifetime area resident, residing in Nelliston for the past 2 years, previously residing in Hessville for 22 ½ years. Mrs. Sanders was a mother and homemaker. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Teacher's Aide for Fordsbush Bible Academy for 3-4 years. She loved taking care of and helping children. She was a member of the Grandview Baptist Church in Fort Plain. On December 22, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Plain, Jean was married to Lee W. Sanders, Sr. She was predeceased by a baby boy. Mrs. Sanders is survived by her husband, Lee W. Sanders, Sr. of Nelliston, NY; 6 daughters, Sandra Frasier and Ron of Palatine Bridge, NY, Susan VanArsdal and Roger of Sharon Springs, NY, Sylvia Johnson of Oppenheim, NY, Sheila Borst and LaVerne of Ephratah, NY, Diane Hodge of Nelliston, NY, Joanne Merritt of Little Falls, NY; 2 sons, Lee W. Sanders, Jr. of Paynes Hollow, NY, Edmund Sanders and Dawn of Fort Plain, NY; 2 brothers, James Lockyer of Homer, NY, Paul Lockyer of York, SC; 3 sisters, Mary Webb of Greene, NY, Linda Adomaschak of Fort Plain, NY, Pat Williams of Cottonwood, AL; 23 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; as well as several, nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 10:00am at the Grandview Baptist Church in Fort Plain, NY with Pastor Dan West officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
