Obituary of James B. Jacques

Mr. James B. Jacques, 73, of Sprakers Road, Sprakers, New York died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. Born on June 28, 1940 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Joseph Jacques and Lucy Cretser. He attended St. Johnsville High School and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Jacques worked for Palatine Dye loading trucks. He also drove truck for Glen and Mohawk as well as Crowley Foods until his retirement in 2007. James was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Loyal Order of the Moose #853 of Canajoharie. He was most happy spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, trips to the casino, Disney and riding his motorcycle. He was a NASCAR fan and a past race horse owner. On November 22, 1974 in the Town of Root, NY, James was married to his wife, Joan. He was predeceased by his parents; uncle, Burton & Audrey Cretser and aunt, Mary Cretser. Mr. Jacques is survived by his wife, Joan A. Jacques of Sprakers, NY; daughter, Lori and Robert Belanger of Sprakers, NY; sister, Patricia and Robert Heath of Little Falls, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. James B. Jacques may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Mannys Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
