Obituary of Marilyn L. Smith

Mrs. Marilyn L. Smith, 63, of Berthoud Street, Nelliston, New York died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Little Falls Hospital. Born on September 2, 1950 in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Robert McFee and Lois Simmons. She attended Fort Plain Central School and spent most of her life in the local area. Mrs. Smith was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3846 in Canajoharie, NY. She enjoyed her family, crafts and taking care of her great-grandchildren, Harland and Amber. On September 12, 1981 at the Ames Sprout-Brook United Methodist Church Marilyn was married to Ronald Smith. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Durfee. Mrs. Smith is survived by her parents, Robert McFee of Fort Plain, NY and Lois Simmons of Fort Plain, NY; husband, Ronald J. Smith of Nelliston, NY; 2 daughters, Wendy Cristman and Mike of Starkville, NY, Kristy Smith of Oswego, NY; son, Scott Smith of MO; 2 half-sisters, Deborah Dillenbeck of Fort Plain, NY, Glenda Dillenbeck of Nelliston, NY; step-brother, Robert McFee; step-sister, Sherry Sitterly; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. Gail Adamoschek officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 3-6pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ames cemetery.
