Mrs. Anna Mae (Leamon) Montanye, 91, of Walnut Street, Canajoharie, New York passed away, Sunday, June 18, 2017 at her home, with her loving family at her side.
Born October 12, 1925 in the Town of Root, she was the daughter of the late Ward and Belle Putnam Leamon. Anna Mae attended Canajoharie High School and was employed at General Electric, Schenectady, the A&P Grocery Store, Canajoharie, and later served as Canajoharie Deputy Town Clerk for over 25 years.
She was married to Harold Montanye on October 3, 1945 and they shared over 57 years together before Harold's passing on February 16, 2003. Anna Mae was a member of the Canajoharie United Methodist Church. She was also a member and officer of the American Legion Auxiliary Smith-Schultz Unit 222, Canajoharie, the Montgomery County American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Delaware, and the Canajoharie Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Exempts.
Anna is survived by five daughters, Nancy Erwin of Blades, DE, Linda Burgess (Larry) of Canajoharie, Connie Dingman (Bruce) Canajoharie, Virginia Mattice (Roger) of Winston-Salem, NC, Brenda Krutz (Larry) of Stone Arabia; three sons, David Montanye (Andrea) of Palatine Bridge, Clifford Montanye (Valerie) of Canajoharie, Brian Montanye (Catherine) of Seminole, FL; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Anna is predeceased by her brother, Harold Leamon; sister, Bertha Putnam; granddaughter, Stacy Sanders; and great-grandson, Zachary Brisbane.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Noon at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Dr. Robert Farmer and Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams co-officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 1st from 10:00-12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
