Mrs. Thelma B. Bazyk, 88, of Gros Road, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on April 23, 1925 in Cabot Plains, VT, she was the daughter of Victor N. Tetreault and Ella Bullock Tetreault. She had been a resident of Fort Plain since 1980, previously residing in Connecticut.
Mrs. Bazyk was a mother and homemaker. She also worked for North Street and Windsor Locks High Schools in the cafeteria.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Mrs. Bazyk was a former Girl Scout Leader. She loved baking and was famous for her homemade donuts. She was very proud of her grandchildren.
On May 2, 1942 at St. Mary's Church in Simsbury, Connecticut, Thelma was married to David W. Bazyk, Sr. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1980. She was also predeceased by a brother and 3 sisters.
Mrs. Bazyk is survived by her 3 daughters, Martha and Nelson Rodriguez of Southwick, MA, Nancy and David Valentine of Higganum, CT, Lisa and Eric Trahan of Ames, NY; 2 sons, David Bazyk, Jr. of Fort Plain, NY, Alan Bazyk and Mary of West Simsbury, CT; brother, Ernest Rodgers of Gilford, NH; sister, Marion Hardy of Whitinsville, MA; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 9:00am with Father Dennis Murphy officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery in the Spring.
