Mrs. Joan P. Caska, 71, of McKinley Road, Palatine Bridge, New York died Monday, January 13, 2014 at her home, following a long illness.
Born on February 8, 1942 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of Charles Edward Marshall and Augusta Schauder Marshall. She was a graduate of Bishop McDonald High School, class of 1959. She had been a local area resident since 1973, previously residing in Long Island.
Most recently Mrs. Caska worked for PIC of Amsterdam. She also worked as a secretary for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for many years.
Mrs. Caska was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Joan was an animal lover who also enjoyed gardening.
On October 20, 1962 in Long Island, NY, Joan was married to Charles Joseph Caska. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1987. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Jason L. Caska in 2005.
Mrs. Caska is survived by her 3 daughters, Dr. Barbara Caska of Dublin, Ireland, Bonnie Caska of Gloversville, NY, Joanie Caska of Palatine Bridge, NY; 3 sisters, Carole Ampol of Florida, Diane Manners of Oppenheim, NY, Arlene Connolley of Richfield Springs, NY; great-grandchildren, Jason L. Caska, Jr. and Michaela Caska.
A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 9:30am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 followed by the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Father Dennis Murphy officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Ave. Cemetery in Fultonville at a later date.
