Obituary of Antonia Soto Collazo

Mrs. Antonia Soto Collazo, 95, of Anderson Circle, Nelliston, New York died Friday, February 14, 2014 at her daughter's home on West Street in Fort Plain with her family by her side. Born on July 15, 1918 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico she was the daughter of Juan Soto Dumont and Maria Collazo. She had been a resident of the Fort Plain area for the past 10 years, previously residing in Puerto Rico. Mrs. Soto was a seamstress for many years, until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Anas Church, Santaria Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Antonia was married to Juan Rivera Castro, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her sister, Rosa Soto and 3 brothers, Antonio Butler, Felipe Soto and Juan Soto. Antonia Soto is survived by her children, Maria Gonzalez, Jose Rivera and Hector Rivera. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain with Father Dennis Murphy officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 5:00-7:00pm at Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place at a later date in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Antonia Soto Collazo may be made to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 119 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
