Obituary of Selma Mary Berry

Mrs. Selma Mary Berry, 90, formerly of Canal Street, Fort Plain, New York died Friday, February 28, 2014 at Palatine Nursing Home.
Born on January 22, 1924 in Leicestershire, England, she was the daughter of John Robert Carrigan and Dorothy Huckerby Carrigan. She was educated in England and moved to Fort Plain in 1946.
Mrs. Berry and her husband were the Owners and Operators of Fort Plain Laundorama and Harry's Snack Bar in Fort Plain for many years, retiring in 1988.
She attended the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Canajoharie, NY.
Mrs. Berry was an avid swimmer, bowler and card player.
On November 28, 1946 in England, Selma was married to Harry E. Berry. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2007 after celebrating over 60 years of marriage.
She was also predeceased by her son, Harry John Berry in 1996; and her brother and sister.
Mrs. Berry is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David P. Berry and Diane Ananda of Bellevue, KY; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in the spring and will be announced at that time at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 26 Moyer Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
