Mrs. Janet I. Looman, 85, most recently of Mohawk Street, Canajoharie, New York died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam.
Born on November 6, 1931, she was the daughter of Arthur E. Schrell and Lillian Grace Race Schrell. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Looman worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie, NY as a production worker until her retirement on December 1, 1996.
She was of Lutheran faith.
Mrs. Looman was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #853 of Canajoharie. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved playing bingo, cards, coloring, going for car rides, and getting ice cream.
On December 7, 1953 in Baltimore, MD, Janet was married to Herbert Looman. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2002. Her sister, Iona Smith and brother, Rodney Schrell also predeceased her.
Mrs. Looman is survived by her 5 daughters, Marilyn Looman of Canajoharie, NY, RoseMarie Louman (Wayne) of Elbridge, NY, Jean Anne Louman (Albert) of Fort Plain, NY, Terri Palemire (Charles) of Edgewater, FL, Cheri Richtmyer (Robert) of Canajoharie, NY; 3 brothers, Bradley Schrell of Fort Plain, NY, Walter Schrell of Dolgeville, NY, Arthur Schrell of Fort Plain, NY; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 5:00pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 3:00-5:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place privately at Fort Plain Cemetery.
