Mr. Theodore A. Michalik, 78, of Northern Terrace, Fort Plain, New York died, Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Johnsville Rehab and Nursing Center following a brief illness.
Born on September 20, 1935 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of Albert Michalik and Katherine Kowalska Michalik. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1953 and was a lifelong resident of Fort Plain.
Mr. Michalik was the owner and operator of his Dairy Farm on Michalik Road for many years. Following his retirement from farming Theodore had a huge garden at his nephews, Laurence Michalik's farm in Brookman's Corners. Later on he was the owner and operator of "Ted's BBQ".
He was of Polish Catholic Faith.
Mr. Michalik was a member of the Canajoharie/Fort Plain Elks Lodge #2621 and was a founding member of the New York Tractor Puller's Association in Fonda. He enjoyed both freshwater and deep sea fishing and archery in his younger years. Theodore liked watching College Basketball. He loved cooking and guarded his recipes.
Theodore was predeceased by his sister, Stella Homme; brother, Edward Michalik; and his companion of over 20 years, Doris Jarvis, who died on August 2, 2007.
Mr. Michalik is survived by his daughters, Tiffany Moon and Jeffrey of North Andover, MA, Janice Holmes of West Melbourne, FL; son, Rev. Kenton Michalik and Shay of Terra Verde, FL; 1st wife, Anna Jansen of Terra Verde, FL; 2nd wife, Norene Michalik of Port St. Lucia, FL; step-son, Michael Rockefeller and Brenda of Lincoln, NE; step-daughters, Shelia Rockefeller of Fort Plain, NY, Michele Whiteman and Ed of Nelliston, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 10:00-11:00am followed by a service by the Canajoharie/Fort Plain Elks at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in the Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls, NY.
