Mr. Harry S. Hotaling, Jr., 80, of Main Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born on June 10, 1939 in Cherry Valley, NY, he was the son of Harry S. Hotaling, Sr. and Beatrice Baxter Hotaling. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School and spent most of his life in the local area.
Mr. Hotaling was a supervisor for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for 22 years. He then went to work for Stroh’s Brewing in Detroit, Michigan and then Memphis, Tennessee as a supervisor. He also spent a short time working for Remington Arms.
He was a veteran of the US Army, spending time stationed in Germany.
Harry was a member of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275, where he was also a member of the Memorial Squad. He was a member of the Boiling Pot Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles #3846. He enjoyed golfing, loved riding motorcycles, and enjoyed having a couple with his brother and friends while watching NASCAR.
On August 24, 1980 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Plain, Harry was married to Patricia A. Mabbett.
Mr. Hotaling is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Hotaling; daughter, Stacy and Greg Logan; brothers, David Hotaling, Danny Hotaling; sisters, Beverly Parslow, Marlene Blair, Crystal Barnes; grandchildren, Sierra Logan, Hunter Logan; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 1:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 11:00-1:00PM at the funeral home.
