Obituary of Robert W. Herron

Mr. Robert William Herron, Jr., 65, of Nelliston and most recently, Palatine Bridge, New York passed away August 31, 2019 at Albany Medical Center, following a four month battle with colon cancer.
Born on November 13, 1953 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Robert Herron, Sr. and Ruth Sanders Herron. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1971 and attended SUNY Morrisville.
Mr. Herron worked for the New York State Canal System and Conrail Albany Division as a track foreman prior to a motorcycle accident in July of 1981.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
Robert enjoyed bowling and BINGO. He was an avid card player, an amazing story teller, and he loved going for car rides to visit with friends and family. He was known by many as “Uncle Bob”. He spent summers at “The Jolly Green” camp, East Caroga Lake. In the fall and winter he enjoyed traveling to Florida and South Carolina. Family meant everything to Bob.
His parents, Robert and Ruth Herron predeceased him.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Angelica and Erik Alves; granddaughters, Kristine and Susannah of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Amanda and Jimmy Ryan; grandsons, Knox, Sam, Liam of Greenville, NC; sisters, Karen and Ray Brown, Pamela McDuffee; nieces and nephews, Josh, Janine and Fiona Brown, Casey and Molly Shults and Christopher Searles, Canaan, Sara, Laine, Livia McDuffee, Jed Brown and Megan Lamanna and Colden Brown, Hannah, Kenny, Ella, and Kaleb Thompson and extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 12:30PM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10:00-12:00 at Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. Robert William Herron, Jr. may be made to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 119 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
