Obituary of Scott A. Smith

Mr. Scott A. Smith, 60, of Main Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his home.

Born on October 5, 1958 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Olin Smith and Lydia Fralick Smith.  He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1977 and was a lifetime area resident.

Most recently Scott worked for Chacho & Sons in Richfield, NY, doing construction.

He served in the US Navy from 1978-1979.

Scott enjoyed redoing wood furniture, and birds both indoor and outdoor.  He also had an elaborate fish tank.

His father and brother, Olin E. Smith, Jr. predeceased him.

Scott is survived by his life partner of over 39 years, Nancy Nelson; mother, Lydia Smith; son, David Smith; brother, Gary Smith; sister, Julie Smith; grandchildren, Camryn Smith, Abigail Smith, Olin Smith, Arielle Smith; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:00PM at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 1:00-2:00PM at the funeral home.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Scott A. Smith may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program-F, 501 St. Jude Place, TN.
