Obituary of Ruth Reuchlein

Mrs. Ruth E. Reuchlein, 89, of Spring Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Palatine Nursing Home, following a brief illness.
Born on December 18, 1929 in Breslau, Germany, she was the daughter of Edwin and Emma Woidscheutzke. She received her Master’s in Photography in Germany. She had been a resident of the local area for the past 60 years, previously residing in New York City and Germany.
Ruth worked as a photo journalist and writer for the Courier Standard. She also worked as a seamstress and photographer in Germany; for Lee’s Publishing, Dievendorfs, Nelson’s Dry Cleaner, LifeSaver’s, Herb’s Studio, and as a cleaner for the former Central National Bank.
She was a member of the Fort Plain Woman’s Business Association. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, jig saw puzzles, watching sports, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Romuald Reuchlein and brothers, Edwin and Paul predeceased her.
Mrs. Reuchlein is survived by her daughters, Esther and Stephen DuBois of Fort Plain, NY, Susan Stokes and Adam Valachovic of Gloversville, NY; grandsons, Nicholas Cramer, Matthew Cramer; step-grandchildren, Kirk DuBois and June, Kelly Dufrense and James; step-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Isabelle, Augustus; close friends, Kay Hall, Irene Moskal, and Lori Howe.
Private services will be arranged at a later date at the convenience of the family with the assistance of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY.
