Gary Herbert Soodsma, 84, passed away peacefully on April 6th at his winter home in Pine Island, Florida. Gary was born in Midland Park, NJ, May 2, 1934. He married the former Carol Arnold of Hawthorne, NJ on October 19, 1957 and enjoyed 61 years together.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served two years in the Honor Guard in Washington D.C. He was a long time member of the Currytown Reformed Church in Sprakers and also served on the Montgomery County and Town of Root Planning Boards.
After moving to Sprakers, NY in 1970, Gary and his brother Henry opened The Carriage House, manufacturers of custom early American kitchen cabinets and furniture in Sprakers. Upon retirement he enjoyed working on projects in the club house at Flamingo Bay on Pine Island.
Gary enjoyed life and family in the country, he leaves his wife Carol, daughter Laurie Kamp (Gary) and son Steven (Beckie), four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
