Mrs. Bertha “Birdie” Myers, 91, of County Highway 114, St. Johnsville, New York passed away, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at her home.
Born on March 6, 1928 in St. Johnsville, NY, she was the daughter of Albert A. Oeser and Marie Jacchia Oeser. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1947 and was a lifelong area resident.
Upon graduation Birdie began working for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie, later retiring from LifeSavers in Canajoharie.
She was of Christian faith.
Mrs. Myers worked as Clerk for the Town of Oppenheim for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Canajoharie, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Axillary. She loved baking, especially Chocolate Jumbles and Sour Cream Sugar Cookies.
On March 24, 1951 at the St. Johnsville Reformed Church, Bertha was married to Alvin Myers. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1993. Her parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, son-in-law, Dean Calvin Frasier, and grandson, Jeremy Lyon also predeceased her.
Mrs. Myers is survived by her 4 children, Karen and Mike Ferjanec of St. Johnsville, NY, Alvin “Buster” Myers and Michele LaGrange of Dolgeville, NY, Pamela and Ron Lyon of St. Johnsville, NY, Adele Myers of Gloversville, NY; brother, Jack Oeser of Florida; grandchildren, Chad and Brittany Ferjanec and their children, Aiden and Garret, Jennifer Mosher and Richard, and their son, Jason, Adam Myers, Kevin Myers and Tracy, Rocco Myers, April D’Alessandro and Dana and their son, Darren, Crystal Pierce and Art and their children, Tyler and Robin, Tiffany Goodrich and her children, Anthony, Christopher, Ashlynn, Grace, Morgan; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Noon at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 10:00-12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Dolgeville Cemetery.
