Mr. Bradley Lee Schrell, 78, of Douglass Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at The Fulton County Rehab Center in Gloversville.
Born on February 11, 1941 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of Arthur Schrell and Lillian Race Schrell. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and received three degrees from John J. College in Manhattan for Civil Service.
Mr. Schrell was a police officer in New York City for 22 years, serving in the 87, 83, and 72nd precincts, retiring in July 1988.
He had been a resident of the Fort Plain area since 1991.
Mr. Schrell served in the US Navy from 1958-1964.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.
He was Past Commander of the VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275 several times. He was Past Commander of the American Legion #554, a life member of The American Vets, member of the Loyal Order of Moose #853 of Canajoharie, and member of Sanitarium Lodge #747 on 23rd Street for over 30 years.
His sister, Iona Smith, Janet Looman and brother, Rodney Schrell predeceased him.
Mr. Schrell is survived by his son, Steven Schrell of Staten Island, NY; daughter, Jessica Schrell of Brooklyn, NY; Step Son Eddie Santiago; brothers, Walter Schrell of Dolgeville, NY, Arthur Schrell of Fort Plain, NY; 6 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 12:30PM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 10:00-12:00PM at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery with Military Honors.
