Obituary of Jerome Aiden Bowerman

Mr. Jerome “Spike” Bowerman, 75, of Buel, Canajoharie, New York passed away peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2019.

He was born on the family farm, May 5, 1943 in Buel, the son of the late Oren and Mildred Bowerman.

Spike, as he was known to everyone, was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1962.  Upon graduation he worked for his dad and then took over the family dairy farm.  He retired in 2005 and then went to work for Double O Builders.

Spike loved all kinds of sports, especially hunting with his boys.  He loved to cook and was known for his barbeque chicken.  He was a member of the Canajoharie/Fort Plain Elk’s Lodge#2621 and the Sprout Brook Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Bowerman of 43 years; sons, Chad and Sherry Bowerman of Fort Plain, NY, Shawn and Brenda Bowerman of Canajoharie, NY, Corey and Ellen Bowerman of Fairfax, VA; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bowerman; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Edna and Dave Everleth of Port Saint Lucie, FL.

Mr. Bowerman was predeceased by his parents; brother, Clarence “Jake” Bowerman; son,  Eric Bowerman; first wife, Marie Bowerman; and father-in-law, Theron Enright.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 10:00AM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 4:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Ames Cemetery.
