Obituary of George A. Dooley

Mr. George A. Dooley, Jr., 56, of Garfield Street, Fort Plain, New York died unexpectedly Thursday, July 17, 2014 at East State Street in Fort Plain. Born on September 6, 1957 in Gary, Indiana, he was the son of George Dooley, Sr. and Eileen Jones Dooley. He had been a Fort Plain area resident since 2007, previously residing in Cooperstown. Mr. Dooley had been a Supervisor for K-Mart in Amsterdam, NY, until 2001, when he became disabled. He was of Baptist faith. George loved camping, sitting by the fire, and his family. He enjoyed playing scratch off tickets and driving through the countryside, looking at scenery. On August 19, 1994, George married the love of his life, Lisa Cooper, in Wells, NY. Together they celebrated over 19 years of marriage. Mr. Dooley was predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Avianna Cotton. George is survived by his wife, Lisa A. Dooley of Fort Plain, NY; children, Ashley Paige Dooley and fiancé, Joe Burkhart of Fort Plain, NY, Samantha Dooley of Fort Plain, NY, Katrina, Melissa, Billy, Paige, all of the Midwest; step-daughters, Heather Hotaling and Matthew Szewczak of Fort Plain, NY, Amber Hotaling and Cody Cotton of Fort Plain, NY; mother-in-law, Beulah Cooper of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, Cayden, Matthew Jr. and Brooklynn Szewczak, Kileigh and Hunter Cotton; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 6:00pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Mr. George A.
