Mr. Richard C. Hall, 88, of Center Street, Palatine Bridge, New York died Monday, July 21, 2014 at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown.
Born on September 19, 1925 in Queens, NY, he was the son of Arthur T. Hall and Julie E. Gadder Hall. He was a graduate of Power Memorial Catholic High School in Queens, NY and attended New York City College. He had been a resident of Palatine Bridge for the past 16 years, previously residing in East Springfield and Queens Village, where he and his wife raised their 8 children.
Mr. Hall was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain, NY.
He loved doing volunteer work with the youth and also volunteered at Mountain Valley Hospice. Following the death of his wife, Richard received an appreciation award for his help at Mountain Valley Hospice. He was an avid golfer.
On May 5, 1951 at St. Thomas the Apostle in Woodhaven, Queens, Richard married Marie T. Callahan. Together they celebrated over 57 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2009. He was also predeceased by his sister, Marilyn McNerney.
Mr. Hall is survived by his 6 daughters, Margaret Richman, Regina Chaeli, Dolores B. Burns-Hartman, Mary Rojas, Helen Hall, Julie C. Hall; 2 sons, Thomas J. Hall, Richard A. Hall; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 9:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
